Tomorrow an Israeli court in Haifa is scheduled to give its verdict in the wrongful death lawsuit brought by the family of Rachel Corrie. On the eve of the verdict this brief video offers a powerful reminder of the injustice Rachel Corrie was trying to stop when she was killed.
Corrie was a 23-year-old American activist with the International Solidarity Movement. She was crushed to death on 16 March 2003 by a US-made, Israeli-modified Caterpillar D9-R bulldozer as she attempted to protect the home of a physician and his family in Rafah, in the southern Gaza strip.
In the video, shot by Mohamed Fares al-Majdalawi, five young Gaza women – Hanan Abu NasserIman SouraniIntimaa al-SoudoudiRana Baker and Rawan Yaghi – Remember Rachel and speak about the thousands of Palestinian homes Israel has demolished since 1967. They call on people around the world to support boycott, divestment and sanctions on Israel, especially the campaign of divestment from Caterpillar.
Rachel gave her life for justice, the least you can do is take action against companies supporting injustice.”
